When the skin is rolled, with a Dermaroller, tiny needles create tiny channels deep in to the dermis of the skin. These deep channels cause keratinocytes and fibroblasts to produce numerous growth factors that induce collagen synthesis. How does the Dermaroller work?

The process involves rolling a small barrel covered in very fine and small needles (1.5mm) quickly over the area to be treated in six directions. The needles puncture the skin and part the pores of the top layer of skin without damaging it. The process however is read as damage by the body and growth factors that stimulate the production of collagen and elastin are triggered. The skin renews itself every 40 days and therefore with 4-6 weekly Dermaroller treatments you see noticeable changes which grow with every treatment.

Possible side effects of Dermaroller

There are virtually no negative side effects, and none have ever been reported in over 150,000 procedures performed worldwide.

The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last for 12 to 24 hours on average. In order to reduce visible redness, we recommend healing minerals, peptides or hyaluronic acid after the procedure, and to protect the skin with zinc based sun screen. We also recommend the use of mineral makeup to help with the healing.

After the Dermaroller it is advised to use an Anti-Inflammatory Cleanser to soothe, Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate, Copper to help heal, Zinc to help heal but also to protect. An SPF for 3 days after the treatment is essential.
